Nepal Makes to Final in Journey to World Cup

Nepal, despite the following of defeat with Delhi Wanderers, has successfully made to the finals in Sagarmatha Cement Journey to the World Cup cricket tournament. In the match held at the Tribhuvan University cricket ground, Kirtipur; Singapore opted to field after winning toss and got defeated by a huge margin of 227 runs. In chase of faraway target of 314 runs set by Nepal in 45 overs, Singapore was all out with 86 runs in 17.1 overs.

Nepal kissed victory with 91 runs by Sharad Veswakar remaining not out, 75 runs by Subas Khakurel and 58 runs by half-centurion Anil Mandal. Openers Gyanendra Malla and Prithivi Baskota underwrote a sum of 48 and 18 runs respectively. Beside, hat-tricks by highhanded bowlers Sompal Kami and Raj Kumar Pradhan and double wickets each by rolling bowlers Basanta Regmi and Jitendra Mukhiya led Nepal to win the match easily.

The tournament is an attempt by Zohara International Pvt. Ltd. in association with Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) in order to bring necessary practice to Nepali Cricket Team, who had already made to the 50-over World Cup Qualifiers with its place in ICC World Cricket League Division 3 held at Bermuda lately. In the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2014 programmed for January 13 to February 1 in New Zealand, Nepal has been positioned in Group A along with Hong Kong, Scotland, UAE and Canada.

Nepal will be facing Air India for the championship tomorrow (7th December) at Tribhuvan University cricket ground, Kirtipur; whom Nepal defeated earlier on Monday this week by five wickets in the league match rounds.
