Chha Ekan Chha, Biteka pal Movie bring Audience back to Cinemas
Last few months didn’t work well for Nepali Movies and December was worst with the Industry as several expected movies including Loafer and Saurya failed to occupy the cinemas. Also, the coinciding release of the Bollywood movie Dhoom-3 out threw business of Nepali movies collecting more than 6 crores only from Nepal. The business of movies Chha Ekan Chha, Biteka Pal, Parai and Yoddha released in cinemas this week however, has shown some positive signs of industry returning back in its better position.
The success of comedy movie, Chha Ekan Chha, particularly, has reinvigorated the declining state of Nepali Movies Industry. The comedy movie released on Friday this week has collected more than 4.8 million Nepali rupees in just two days. The movie is screening in 70 cinema halls countrywide, and is doing really well in both multiplexes and single cinemas. The movie had an opening collection of 1.8 million Nrs on Friday, and collected a sum of 3 million Nrs on Saturday. Watch a short video of Theatre reviews below.
Producer and actor of Chha Ekan Chha, Deepak Raj Giri, said that the movie is filling cinemas with an average occupancy of 80%. The Dinesh DC directed movie has featured almost all renowned comedians of Nepali Entertainment scene, and is successful with growing number of shows in multiplexes.
As for Suraj Subba directorial movie, Biteka Pal, with its release on 35 cinema halls the movie has collected a sum of one lakh from a single hall in Dharan. Producer Rajesh Ghatani however hasn’t declared the official collection of the movie yet. Ghatani is rather excited with an unexpected pick up of the movie from 30% to 70% in theatres. Director Suraj Subba says the success of Biteka Pal will depend on the ‘Word of Mouth’ starting from Sunday.
Likewise, Late Shiva Regmi movie, Parai, has also been well appreciated by the spectators. Producer of the movie, Govind Shahi, said that he is hopeful about the success of Parai with the overwhelming mass of spectators excited to watch the movie. Parai will be screening in 50 cinemas from 15th January.
This January has been of a successful month for Nepali Movies Industry, but if the trend continues with the upcoming movies will be interesting to see.
