With a plan to develop Thamel area open for 24 hours, the tourist hub in the Valley, the task of installing Automatic Solar Lights will be starting soon. The Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) has reported that the installation of Automatic Solar Lights will begin within upcoming three months by assistance from Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
NEA has acquired the Automatic Solar Lights with support from Asian Development Bank (ADB). Currently, the solar lights are at construction phase in China. The installation work will be launched as they reach Nepal within three months.
Initially, the installation was planned with 70% aid from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) as per the agreement signed between KMC and TTDC. Chairman at TTDC, Ram Saran Thapaliya, said that after the support from ADB, the solar lights are becoming obtainable as assistance. While it’s been a long since the plan came up, the proposal hasn’t been realized yet.
