Nepal loses to Afghanistan 0-1 in SAFF Semifinal

Nepal has lost 0-1 to Afghanistan in the Semifinal match of 8th SAFF Championship 2013 held this evening at the Dasharath Stadium. Despite two penalty and numerous other opportunities, Nepali players failed to convert thus allowing Afghanistan to proceed to the finale of the championship. A 10th minute goal from Sandjar Ahmadi of Afghanistan team became the deciding goal for the match today.

Rohit Chand couldn’t capitalize on two-penalty opportunities team Nepal got towards the end of the match. Nepal had a strong possession in the match.

This is the second time Nepal lost to Afghanistan in the Semifinals of the SAFF championships. The team had also lost to Afghanistan 0-1 in the 7th SAFF Championship held in New Delhi in 2011.

Afghanistan now will play with the winner of the second semi final match being held tomorrow between India and Maldives.
