Nepal in Division- 2 of ICC Cricket League, will play 2015 World Cup Qualifiers

Team Nepal cricket has progressed to division–2 in ongoing ICC World Cricket League being played in Bermuda. Team Nepal beating Italy by 8 wickets and USA loosing to host country team Bermuda created the magical possibility of Nepal entering into divison-2 of the league. Along with this progress, team Nepal has also qualified to play for the 2015 World Cup cricket Qualifiers.

Team Nepal’s entrance in the league with their modest performance resulted into loss of first two matches against USA and Uganda. This seriously deteriorated Nepal’s hope of progressing in the league. The team’s Subsequent wins against Bermuda and Oman, however had brought the hopes back for the team.

Nepal had a victory of eight wickets over Italy in Saturday’s division-3 match against Italy. In the match played at Lord’s, St David’s Cricket Club in Bermuda, Nepal achieved the target of 128 runs in 14.3 overs loosing only two wickets. Subash Khakurel scored 47 runs for Nepal while Pradeep Airee and Paras Khadka scored 42 and 22runs respectively. Gyanendra Malla (not out) contributed 10 runs for the target.

In another match between Bermuda and United States of America yesterday at Hamilto, Bermuda won by 5 wickets (with 32 balls remaining). This made it possible for Nepal to progress into Division- 2.
