Sandip Rai, Nepal’s national football team player has won the title of Ncell Player of the Year 2069. Rai, who plays for Three Star Club in Kathmandu was awarded with the title amidst a function at ANFA complex in Satdobato. He was also presented with a car from Ncell along with the coveted title. All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) chairman Ganesh Thapa and Ncell corporate communication manager Sanju Kiorala jointly presented the car worth Rs.1.7 millions to him.
The ANFA, last month had announced all 23 members of the current national team as nominees for the Ncell player award. The nominees included Kiran Chemjong, Ritesh Thapa, Bikesh Kuthu, Rabin Shrestha, Rohit Chand, Sandip Rai, Sagar Thapa, Rabin Shrestha, Biraj Maharjan, Jitendra Karki, Bikram Lama, Bijay Dhimal, Bijay Gurung, Nirajan Khadka, Rajendra Rawal, Bhola Silwal, Jagjit Shrestha, Chetan Ghimire, Amar Dongol, Bharat Khawas, Raju Tamang, Santosh Sahukhala and Jumanu Rai.
Sandip Rai won the title with maximum of 111317 SMS votes. Anil Gurung, and Bharat Khawas were the other finalists for the title. The best player was decided on basis of SMS votes, coaches and sports journalist team points.
