Why do you want to participate in this pageant?
I want to participate in this pageant because I love trying out new things. While I have hosted events, and participated frequently in Nepali cultural shows and fundraising events hosted by two of the prominent Nepali organizations in Boston: Greater Boston Nepalese Community and Himalayan Lions Club, I have never in my life participated or considered participating in beauty pageants. Therefore, this is an exciting opportunity for me to explore my potentials, learn new things, and meet other Nepali people outside of Boston who share my interests in preserving and promoting Nepali culture in the US. Moreover, this pageant is a wonderful platform for me to promote the causes and issues that I am most passionate about.
If you are selected for this title, what platform or issue will you speak throughout the year ?
If selected for this title, I would like to speak for following platforms and issues: a) preserving, and promoting our Nepalese culture, language, and identity in America; b) improving the accessibility and quality of health and educational services throughout Nepal; c) youth empowerment and creating more job opportunities at all parts of Nepal; d) bringing awareness to some important but largely overlooked issues such as mental health, domestic abuse etc; e) raising funds to provide immediate relief to victims of natural disasters
Any information that was not captured in the application may be stated here:
I graduated from University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology, and an International Relations Certificate. While improving education and health facilities are going to help young people turn into intelligent, healthy, and responsible citizens of the country, the direction the country is going to head to is ultimately going to come from politics. Therefore, it is extremely important for young people to be interested and involved in politics. With this belief, I hope to go to graduate school to research on how human psychology shapes political behavior and vice-versa and how theories and findings in psychology can be used to find solutions to major problems in politics. I hope I will be able to contribute to Nepal intellectually one day but till then I am interested in contributing to Nepal in however way I can and mostly through social work and promoting Nepali tourism.
