Nepali Youth Bags 2nd Prize in an International Essay Contest

Surath Giri, a Nepali youth has bagged 2nd prize in an international essay contest organized by Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). He was awarded the prize under the ‘Social Transformation’ category for his essay titled “Building Entrepreneurial Ecosystem for Fostering Entrepreneurship: Lessons from Nepal”. The competition had received more than 300 entries from 62 countries around the world. CIPE has been organizing this annual youth essay contest since 2008.

A graduate of political economy from Asia Institute of Political Economy at Hong Kong University, Surath Giri currently works as a Research Associate for Samriddhi, The Prosperity Foundation. Besides this, he also works as a stringer reporter for Khabar South Asia, a South Asian news portal and teaches entrepreneurship development to college students. He has published about 2 dozen articles on political and economic issues in the various newspapers of Nepal, primarily in The Himalayan Times. He has also been blogging on political, economic and social issues since 2009 in his personal blog www.surathgiri.com.
